Lewistown Junior High GIS Club 8th graders, along with teachers Susan Flentie and Katherine Spraggins, presented their winning GIS project to the Montana Association of Geographic Information Professionals on April 18th at the 2018 Big Sky GeoCon.
The presentation was based on the groups winning project in Samsung's "Solve for Tomorrow" technology competition earlier this winter. The goal of the project was to use technology to improve and coordinate relief efforts during in the event of a natural or man-made disaster. As a part of the project, the group worked with and refined their prototype app called EnviroMaster.
Using the app users would be able report on, and monitor emergencies or disasters with the app by easily scrolling down its menuing system, selecting the nature of the disaster and where it is located geographically. Once reported anyone, anywhere, can then follow its reported status.
