This elective course includes a wide variety of literature: poetry, non-fiction, short stories, novels, and plays. A few examples of major works read include: Their Eyes Were Watching God, Catcher in the Rye, Blood Wedding, Pygmalion, Into Thin Air, and The Last Lecture. (Selections may vary.) Various creative and reflective assignments are completed. Some of the creative and written assignments include journals, fan fiction, investigation of and a report on of one of the United States’ past poet laureates, posters, writing a memoir, writing poems for two voices and photograph poems – among others. Class discussion and participation are vital to this course.
