Golden Eagle Trail's Bridge
Installed in 2008!
During the fall of 2008, with the
expertise of Rick Hill, Contech Bridge Company and Strong's Crane
Service, Fergus High was able to complete the last part of the Golden
Eagle Trail. The bridge over Big Spring Creek was the most
difficult part of the trail, as well as the most costly. The
majority of the funding was obtained with the help of the Montana Fish,
Wildlife and Parks who funded $21,000 of the cost. The remainder
of the cost for the bridge was born by the students and several other
donation sources. The thumbnail photos below show some of the
progress of the bridge installation.

The trail itself was is a school
and community project that was started in 2001 or 2002 by the FFA Alumni
Land Committee, the FFA and the school. the trail itself was
generally completed in 2005 by the students in the Fergus of Lewistown
FFA with help from the Big Spring Watershed Partnership and the
Friends of the Trails. The trail itself made its way through the
high school property and connects the school to the Brewery Flats,
Chokecherry and Lewistown's "2008 Montana FWP Trail of the Year" award
winning Rails to Trails project.
