    Week 1 (March 23-27)

    Hi Families!

It's time to get our feet wet and dive into our school work. Please do not expect to get a day's work done in one sitting. After each task, allow your child a break; whether it's to go outside for 20 minutes, eat a snack or put on a 15 min Go Noodle activity video. As far as nightly homeFUN, your child can continue to do the gold and pink sheets for the week with a nightly story.

Before you begin, be sure to put up some expectations between you and your child. Show your child the checklist and explain to them that this is what we are trying to get done today. Come up with a reward everyday for your child so they may feel success. For example, if we get reading done before lunch then we can have a picnic outside. Choose rewards that best fits you and your child.

Below is an explanation of the worksheets if you need clarification.

Reading - The workbook pages can be done with your help as there is one page per day. The coloring/activity sheets can be done independently by your child after the workbook page with you.

Math - Guide your child through the big math pages and then the black and white worksheet can be done by your child independently.

Please know that I am an email away. I will be available Monday thru Friday at 7:30 am to 4:30 pm.

    Love,

    Mrs. Irish

  • School Closure 3/16-3/27

    Hello Families!

I hope you all are hanging in there and keeping busy at home!  The first grade team has printed and put together all classwork for two weeks that families will need to come pick up from Garfield Elementary at some point (I will keep you updated as to when this will be).  We have also created a Google Site that contains resources to go along with all the work being sent at this time.  This is obviously all new to us as educators and you as families, so please be understanding and patient. Just know that the most important thing is to read to your child and your child can read to you. Love them up and enjoy your quality time together.

Thank you so much! I miss all of my kiddos and hope everyone is staying healthy and in good spirits!smiley
